Karl Johannson is the Senior Vice-President, Canadian Power for TransCanada. He is responsible for all activities relating to the management of TransCanada’s Canadian and Western U.S.A. unregulated electricity businesses including:
• The management of the Western power generation business including generation capacity of about 2000 MW’s in Alberta and 500 MW’s in Arizona,
• The management of the Eastern Canadian power generation business consisting of TransCanada’s equity interest in over 4000 MW’s of power operating or under construction, and
• The management of all greenfield power generation business development activities in Canada and the Western U.S.A. including our interest in new hydro, wind and thermal development sites.
Karl has 15 years of commercial experience in the power business including project management, power trading, commercial management of facilities, gas acquisition and optimization and power marketing. Prior to joining the power business, Mr. Johannson held several management and trading positions in energy marketing organizations including crude oil marketing and natural gas liquids trading. Mr. Johannson has over twenty years direct experience in the marketing and trading of energy products in Canada and the U.S.A.
Mr. Johannson holds a M.B.A. from the Haskayne School of Business, an Arts degree from the University of Calgary and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s General Management program.
