Paul is presently Director of Engineering at Montana Alberta Tie Ltd. MATL is a first international merchant tie line between US and Canada.
Mr. Paul Kos has more than 25 years of comprehensive and practical industry experience in the areas of power generation and transmission, asset management, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), risk management, reliability, safety, engineering economics, regulatory affairs, system and resource planning, and energy procurement. He worked on numerous projects for generators, electrical utilities and petrochemical industry in Canada, United States, Europe, Australia, Middle East and India.
Throughout all his assignments, he strives to link the technical analysis with probabilistic assessments and economic evaluations to enhance engineering, improve decision-making and integrate externalities. He believes in holistic view of risk, reliability and safety management as an integral part of design and operation.
Paul has appeared number of times in front of the Alberta EUB as a technical expert witness in various regulatory matters and assisted with evidence and witness preparation in numerous other hearings in various Canadian and international jurisdictions.
Paul has Master degree in Electrical engineering from University of Saskatchewan. Paul is registered Professional Engineer.
Mr. Paul Kos is a member of APEGGA, IEEE and CIGRE, Past Chairman of Southern Alberta Section of IEEE, Past Chairman of Southern Alberta PES/AIS of IEEE, member of Application of Probabilistic Methods subcommittee of IEEE Power Engineering Society.
Paul Kos also served on Board of Directors of Alberta Electrical League and Power System Solutions Inc.
